Why I Started Premier Protection Security
I’m Steven Caldwell, founder and Managing Director of Premier Protection Security. With a lifetime of real-world experience providing personal security to some of the world’s most prominent actors, musicians, and high-profile individuals, one of the most common questions I get is, “What martial arts do you know?”
The truth is, while physical skills play a role, they’re not the foundation of professional protection. My most valuable tools are preparation, situational awareness, and meticulous advance planning. Hours of assessing risk, identifying potential threats, and creating dynamic strategies allow me to protect my clients before danger even materialises.
Two tragic events deeply shaped my decision to start this business and share my knowledge.
The first was the Manchester Arena bombing on 22nd May 2017 . The second was the Forbury Gardens knife attack in Reading on 20th June 2020. The latter occurred just after the UK emerged from Covid lockdown—when people were finally enjoying their freedom again. That evening, three young men lost their lives, and three more were seriously injured.
Both events struck a personal chord. They involved young people enjoying everyday moments—and their lives were taken in senseless acts of violence.
I realised then that I had an opportunity, and a responsibility, to do more.
By leveraging the expert skills of our close protection operatives, I could deliver bespoke training programmes to the anyone that needs it - businesses, celebrities, politicians, front line workers and the general public. These are built around the same core principles I use in the field: situational awareness, preparation, threat recognition, and understanding both predator and personal response psychology. We also teach a handful of highly effective physical techniques—because sometimes, knowing just a few “kick-ass” moves can make all the difference.
This is more than training. It’s a way of moving through the world with confidence, clarity, and control.
Prepare. Prevent. Protect.
